The above pie chart depicts the main factors that have led to migration to and from the UK in 2007. As a whole, major factors for migration in the UK were definite work, formal study, searching for work, and accompanying others.
A major proportion, less than a third, accounts for job purpose immigration and more or less equal values for emigration. Nearly more than a quarter, went out of the UK to study while a very small proportion emigrated for studies. Less than a fifth immigrated accompanied by their loved ones while, equally less proportion emigrated for the same purpose.A large proportion, 22%, travelled abroad in search of job opportunities while only 12% stepped the UK in search of jobs.
A minute proportion stated no reasons for immigration and one-third had no specific reasons for emigration to the UK in 2007. Approximately equal proportions migrated to and from the UK for any other reasons apart from those stated in the key of the pie chart.
