The diagram illustrates how salt is filtered to turn sea water into drinkable water. Overall, the process consistss of several phases, starting with taking sea water into the pretreatment filter and culminating in the distributuion of drinking water, while watse materials are returned to sea.
The initial stages invovle taking saltwater through a water pipe, primary filter and saltwater is purified through membrane to seperate waste such as impurities and salt. First, salt water is taken from sea through water supply system. At the first stage, they use backwash means the flow of water is reserved to dislogde dirt and impurities, but there still have smaller impiruties that can not be filtered by backwash filtration. Therefore, it still go through the next stage to be cleaner and there is a system of membrances to separate water from salt and impurities. In detail, there are several holes on the membrance and high pressure pull the water molecules go through those holes because the size of impurities and salt tis much more bigger than water molecules, even the holes so that they are blocked. After that, seawater concentrate is dumped at sea.
The later stages show how water is treated and distributed to residents. At this point, lime, chlorine and flouride play its important roles. As a result, they make water become more neutral, eliminate virus and bacteria and help people take care of dental health. Finally, water is stored in a tank and supplied to meet people’s demands.
