Overall, the whole process of filtering sea water takes four steps in total, starting from pre-treatment filter and ending with storage. The leftover concentrate from filters is thrown back to the sea.
The first step is pumping in salt water from the sea. It then passes to pre-treatment filter where filter backwash is returned to the sea. Then pre-filtered water is forced through the membrane at high pressure, in which salt molecules and impurities gets trapped. The trapped salt and leftovers form sea water concentrate and are returned to the sea
In the next step water molecules goes through post treatment using lime, chlorine, and flouride. After that, filtered water goes to the storage facility, where it can be transported into integrated water supply system
