The illustration describes how salt is separated from sea water to make it possible to drink. Overall, it is man-made linear process which contains five steps. The salt water is taken from the sea, then it is processed through several filters, after that is kept in the storage, and, subsequently, is sent to integrated water supply system.
At the first stage, salt water flew through the pipe to pre-treatment filter, where filter backwash is separated, and, then it returned to the sea. Following this, pre-treated water is forced via membrane at high pressure with salt and impurities being separated from water molecules, and then sea water concentrate also is returned to the sea through the separate pipeline.
Once the water is processed on the previous stages, it is then passed through post-treatment with lime chorine and fluoride. On the final stage, the water is gathered in the storage, after which it is added to integrated water supply system for further use by people.
