Overall, it is clear that all categories fluctuated over the years, especially the proportions of food and education, which changed considerably during the period.
The figure for food dropped dramatically from 27% in 1960 to 15% in 2000. There was also a sharp decline in spending on health, which fell from 15% to around 5% over the same period. By contrast, some categories such as clothing, education and others showed an upward trend. Education accounted for the biggest share, about 28% in 2000, rising from 15% in 1960 and 21% in 1980.
Spending on clothing went down slightly from 12% to 10%. However, it then rose to 16% in 2000, showing a 6% increase after the previous decline.
Additionally, the share of others was the smallest at around 9% in 1960, but it climbed significantly to 21% in 2000.
