Dear Ms. Anna,
I am writing this letter to explain a misunderstanding between us over the past few months. I have noticed that you no longer speak to me or smile when we meet.
The problem started when you greeted me one morning, but I did not respond. At that time, I was suffering from the flu and felt extremely tired. Because of this, I could not answer you or even make eye contact. I think you may have believed that I ignored you on purpose, and I am really sorry for that.
I hope we can solve this problem by meeting for a short talk sometime this weekend. I would be happy to invite you to my house for a cup of tea so that I can explain everything in person. I hope you can spare a little time to meet with me, and I sincerely hope that we can keep our good relationship.
However, if the situation does not improve, I may ask another neighbor to help us discuss the issue because I do not want this misunderstanding to affect our relationship any longer.
Yours sincerely,
