The maps illustrate how the city of Nelson has changed from 2000 to the present day. Taking everything into account, almost every buildings in the city are changed, and developed into new buildings.
In the past, university was located in the northern area, while in the south, there was a street used for transportation by vehicles. Meanwhile, train station and old market were placed in the western side. Furthermore, no buildings were built in the opposite area and also in the centre.
By contrast, in the present, hall of residence and new shopping centre are added in the northern side. In addition, the old train station is relocated into new train station and placed near the city centre. In comparison, restaurant and new bar dan clubs are constructed in the south, whereas the street is use for pedestrians only. Old market have been removed, and replaced by the new shop, while new covered market have been introduced in the opposite side.
