The maps below illustrate some changes in the landscape of Nelson from 2000 to today. Overall, some facilities like a train station were installed, whereas some areas like old markets were replaced.
Initially, a restaurant, bars and clubs were built to the directly north of the port, which is situated on the bottom side of the pictures. A road which stretched from west to east become a road for pedestrians. A residential building was installed at the upper-left part of the picture, while train station which used to be located the immediately south of there was torn down.
An old market was refurbished and transformed into a new shop now, while a covered new market sits across a city center from the newer shop. A forest which was located in the upper-right direction of the picture was replaced by a new shopping center as well. The city center was changed its usage and now it is used as a bicycle rental area. A railway runs through from city center to a university in a northward direction and a new station was built directly on the west side of the tramline as well.
