The given figures reveal that the way in which different pastime hobbies changed among European pre-aged people between 1985 and 1995.
Overall, the most popular pastime activity was watching TV, and saved its rank during these years, though its trend was diminishing. Furthermore, playing computer games is also remarkable, because it is not reported by any respondent in the first pie chart, however, it took the second place after watching TV at the end in the second figure.
It is evident that watching TV had 32 percent of the proportion in 1985, but slipped to 30% in 1995. Moreover, talking with friends became more popular in 1995, regarding its first position which was 21% in the first pie chart. In addition, eating out minimized considerably from 23% to a mere 8% over the period of those years. While playing computer games had no portion of popular leisure activities, in 1995, however, it grew exponentially to 27 percent in the second survey. With respect to talking with family’s proportion in 1985, it experienced a gradually diminish from 18% to 7% at the end. Additionally, other activities which were limited to merely 6% in 1985, had become less than before in 1995, to only 2%.
