Overall, people consume the most amount of added sugar as snacks, which infact have the least percentage of sodium. On average dinner includes the highest concentration of sodium and saturated fat. Breakfast has almost same percentage of the three nutrients as well as the least amount of all compared to other meals.
The proportion of sodium in breakfast and snacks come to 14% whereas 16% of saturated fat and added sugar is present in breakfast. On average, saturated fat content in snacks 21%. The percentage of added sugar shows it’s highest level in snacks with 42%.
Dinner contains 43% of sodium and 37% saturated fat respectively. Added sugar is comparatively less in dinner with 23%. Sodium level in the meals for lunch includes 29% of sodium and a saturated fat content of 26%. Lunch only includes 19% of added sugar.
