Band 6+: Your local council has advertised for volunteers to teach a basic English programme for refugees. You would like to do some work for this programme in your free time. Dear Sir/ Mam

I am writing this letter to apply for the position of volunteer teacher advertised in the local town newspaper on 26 March.

I am a university student and it would be an honour for me to volunteer for this program because I come from an immigrant family and English was not our first language, due to which I understand the hardships one has to go through. Moreover, I have a long summer break coming up and I would like to invest this time in something meaningful even if it doesn’t pay anything, i would really appreciate this opportunity.

Furthermore, I can be a perfectly suitable candidate for this position as I mentioned I am a university student and qualifications include postgraduate degree in English studies. I have worked on a similar English programme last year. Thus, I can help make it an easy learning process for learners.

I have a flexible schedule, available from the beginning of June to the end of September. I can teach up to 20 hours per week and make myself available for a few hours if needed. My CV is attached for your kind consideration.
