Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my concerns regarding the proposed construction of a new shopping centre near my residence on Maple Street. While I understand the potential economic benefits of such a development, I believe it may create serious traffic and environmental problems for the neighbourhood.
To begin with, the area already experiences heavy congestion during peak hours, particularly along King Road, which is the main route connecting several residential zones. Adding a large commercial complex will likely increase the number of vehicles, leading to longer delays and greater difficulty for local residents entering and leaving their homes. The increased traffic could also pose safety risks for children who walk to the nearby school.
In addition to traffic issues, I am worried about the environmental impact of the project. The proposed site is currently home to a small green space with mature trees and a variety of birds. Removing this natural area to build a shopping centre would reduce local biodiversity and contribute to higher noise and air pollution. This would significantly affect the quality of life for people living in the surrounding community.
I would like to suggest that the council consider alternative locations, such as the vacant industrial land near the highway or the unused lot beside the railway station. Both sites are more suitable as they are farther from residential areas and already have better transport links to accommodate increased traffic.
Thank you for taking my concerns into consideration. I hope the council will carefully review the potential impacts before making a final decision.
Yours faithfully,
Deep Patel
