Band 8+: 1. A rise in the standard of living in a country often only seems to benefit cities rather than rural areas. What problems can this cause? How might these problems be reduced?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It has become universally acknowledged that the issue of an increasing standard of living, which predominantly benefits urban areas over rural ones, is escalating at an alarming rate. This disparity is contributing to a state of economic distress among many people. A significant reason for this problem is that urban areas tend to receive a disproportionate amount of funding from the government, while rural areas receive little to no financial support. To address this issue, the government should prioritize improving infrastructure in rural areas to enhance accessibility.

A fundamental cause of this problem lies in the government’s unfair budget allocation among various provinces, with a heavy focus on urban areas that are already equipped with excellent facilities. A notable fact supporting this assertion is that many government officials reside predominantly in urban regions. Consequently, their efforts tend to concentrate more on the continuous enhancement of the cities they inhabit rather than on improving the facilities in rural areas. For example, urban regions offer a variety of transportation options, such as skylines and subways, making commuting much easier for residents.

However, by adopting a more constructive perspective towards this issue, numerous solutions could help mitigate the challenges faced by rural areas. One effective solution would be to invest in upgrading rural infrastructure, including roads and transportation systems. Improving these facilities could facilitate travel for both tourists and local residents, ultimately promoting tourism and generating income for rural businesses.

In conclusion, the inadequate budget distribution is primarily responsible for a standard of living that seems to benefit only urban areas. This situation can be addressed by ensuring a more equitable allocation of funds to rural regions. Additionally, enhancing infrastructure in these areas is essential to promote tourism and support local traders.
