The recent growth of online shopping will one day end up closing shops in urban areas due to the ease of use and time-saving factors. This essay will explain why I agree with this fact.
In recent times, due to the rise of improved technology in communication and transportation, people have been more reliant on ordering all their needs through online shopping. Therefore, companies like Amazon and AliExpress have invested more time and money in improving the technology to bring goods to people much faster. This has made people more reliant on online shopping for having their items delivered to their doorstep.
The data collected from people’s online shopping habits have made companies aware of what the consumer needs next. Therefore, when people go to an online website, they are greeted with things that they might need on the homepage itself, without searching for the goods they need. This allows people to spend less time finding the items they need. Due to this fact, people rely on online shopping more and more rather than going to a store to buy a product. However, perishable items such as vegetables and fruits cannot be stored in a large warehouse for a very long time. Due to this fact, some shops will not close because of the short lifespan of certain products that people need to buy in person.
In conclusion, the increase in people shopping online will one day close most of the shops in towns and cities because it’s faster and much more convenient for people to buy the items they need rather than going to a store
