“In recent times, tertiary education has become very costly. Some individuals believe that university fees should be reduced, especially for poor students, particularly those who are facing economic problems or coming from rural areas. I strongly agree with this statement and will support my position in the following paragraphs.
Generally speaking, there are a number of reasons why university fees should be reduced. Firstly, many university students come from less educationally developed areas. If universities reduce their fees, these students will be able to pursue higher education. As a result, in the future, they could become doctors, engineers, nurses, and other professionals in high-profile occupations. We also know that a country cannot improve without educated and skilled professionals.
Secondly, many highly educated individuals go to foreign countries to work and earn foreign currency. They often send money back to their home countries. As a result, the economic condition of the country can improve through this remittance. However, such benefits are difficult to achieve without reducing fees to make education accessible.
On the other hand, the government should establish different types of financial foundations and scholarships for these students. When a university reduces its fees, some people might think that the university is less competitive. Therefore, the government should also ensure that financial support is available. I personally think that reducing fees will not only create better learners but also contribute to the development of responsible citizens.
To sum up, my personal view is that universities should reduce academic fees, with the government’s involvement, to address this issue. If the government also focuses on finding a proper solution, the country will benefit significantly.”
