Band 7+: 3. as a student what should you do to protect the environment

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The world is highly modernized and industrialized to make human life easier and more comfortable. Along with that are the consequences of environmental pollution which is a major problem facing most countries all over the world. To tackle that issue, conscious human actions play a very important role. As a student, I think it has many ways to preserve our environment which I will explore in the following presentation.

One potential remedy to this problem is to participate in propagandizing and encouraging activities to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection. As we can see the degradation of nature almost have been made by humans. Awareness about the importance of reducing pollution on Earth can be created through campaigns such as “Earth Hour”, “Green Tet- Sustainable Tet”, etc. The “Photo Contest – Good Deeds for Children” is also one of the environmental activities organized by UNICEF Vietnam that I was lucky to participate in and achieve good results. The contest spreads to everyone a message that “For Vietnam to be green, clean and safe for all children” so each contestant will send a photo of the environment along with their feelings. Awareness can be implanted through education, for example, advertisements on television and articles in newspapers that are related to topics like “How to reduce pollution”, “The consequences of pollution” and so on. Therefore, pollution can be reduced by creating awareness among the citizens.

Another way to preserve the environment is to practice the 3Rs concept namely reduce, reuse, and recycle. Reduce means to minimize the amount of waste we create. Citizens should reduce buying products with a lot of packaging as it will be thrown away and that will be a good result in reducing waste. One may make no difference, but when carried out together, massive changes can be made. Moving on, reusing reusable items like plastic bags, bottles, boxes and more is also one of the ways to reduce pollution. For example, instead of throwing away a worn-out tire, it can be used as a plantation plot. The next way to reduce pollution is to recycle recyclable items such as glass, cans, and newspapers. The recycled newspapers can be reproduced as toilet papers which will reduce extra waste on earth indirectly contributing to reducing land pollution. Therefore, practicing the 3Rs is one of the most effective ways to reduce pollution on earth.

In conclusion, participating in propagandizing and encouraging activities to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection and practicing the 3Rs concept namely reduce, reuse, and recycle are the ways that I always do for our environment. In my point of view, not only pupils can do all the activities above but all individuals can do that to join hands to protect our common home on Earth.

Opinions are divided on whether investing in space-related activities or focusing on unresolved problems on Earth is more significant. In my point of view, while space exploration offers benefits, the immediate needs on Earth, such as poverty and environmental issues, require urgent attention. Admittedly, space exploration brings some potential solutions for problems on Earth. For […]
