The rapid decline of numerous animal species worldwide is currently a pressing issue. The debate regarding whether countries and individuals should prioritize the protection of these animals over addressing human issues continues to provoke controversy. In this essay, I will argue that resources should be primarily allocated to conserving wildlife, while also considering the opposing perspective.
On the one hand, proponents argue that resources should be directed towards addressing human issues for various reasons. Firstly, pressing concerns such as poverty, unemployment, famine, and health problems significantly impact human well-being and quality of life. It is argued that investing in these areas is crucial to alleviate human suffering and improve overall living conditions, thereby safeguarding the welfare of humanity in the long term. Furthermore, proponents contend that by focusing resources on human issues, individuals are more likely to appreciate and steward their resources, leading to reduced wastage of food, water, and energy, which is highly beneficial for sustainable development.
Conversely, I am of the opinion that conservation efforts should take precedence over human-centric resource allocation. Humans have played a significant role in causing environmental degradation, including contributing to phenomena such as global warming and habitat destruction which have directly impacted wildlife. Consequently, it is imperative that resources are channeled towards conservation efforts in order to mitigate the negative consequences of human activities on the natural world. Moreover, the extinction of various species can have profound ecological ramifications, disrupting the delicate balance of the natural food chain and compromising overall ecosystem stability.
In summary, while there are diverging opinions on whether resources should be solely allocated to addressing human issues or not, I firmly advocate for prioritizing the protection of endangered animal species to prevent their extinction. It is essential to recognize the interconnectedness of all life forms and the critical role that wildlife plays in maintaining the equilibrium of the natural world.
