People have different views regarding whether animals should be fully protected or animals can be employed by humans. In this essay, both viewpoints will be discussed constructively in order to reach a balanced strike.
Some people argue that animals should receive full protection considering animal rights since they have equal rights as humans do. They deserve to live and reproduce so that they can have offspring. At present, many non-governmental organizations, such as PETA and WWF, actively promote animal rights. Additionally, this way will also prevent them from becoming extinct. For example, endangered animals like rhinos, which reproduce slowly, and elephants, which have a relatively long pregnancy period, will be fully protected.
In contrast, it is also believed that animals can be employed by humans. Animals play an important role in providing for human nutritional needs. Meat, eggs, and fish are sources of animal protein. The human body requires essential nutrients from these sources, such as a certain amount of protein intake per day. In addition, from a scientific perspective, animal testing is inevitable for some medical experiments and the production of beauty products. For example, pigs are often used in medical research because of certain biological similarities to humans.
In my opinion, animals should be protected while still being used for human needs, such as nutritional purposes and medical research. In some cases, animals can be exploited because some species may endanger human lives as they reproduce too quickly, such as mice and snakes. Also, humans must avoid animal cruelty and ensure ethical treatment of animals.
In conclusion, although some people support full animal protection, others believe animals can be utilized by humans. A balanced approach that protects animals while allowing responsible use is the best solution.
