An increasing figure for the population depends on restaurants and ready-to-eat options instead of homemade cooking for the majority of their meals. This trend is both positive and negative.
There are two main benefits of convenience food and eateries. The first advantage is that they will help people save time. Instead of planning meals, shopping, cooking and cleaning up after each meal, people can simply microwave some frozen food or eat out. Students are a typical example. This group is often caught up with the studies and has no time to prepare food, so ready-to-eat options are the most suitable for them. Another merit is that restaurants offer a varied selection of food. Not everyone has the ability or desire to spend time and effort in the kitchen to enjoy dishes from distinct parts of the world. Therefore, dinner in an authentic restaurant where professional chefs prepare delicious food is much better than an unsuccessful attempt to make a dish at home.
Despite the advantages mentioned above, junk food and eating outs have many drawbacks. First, consuming this type of food for a long period may cause health issues such as obesity or heart related diseases as packaged food with a high level of fat, sugar and salt does not contain vitamins and minerals which a human body needs for a proper diet. Second, in terms of price, having meals at restaurants or purchasing packaged food tend to be more expensive than homemade cooking. People who live paycheck to paycheck usually are not able to afford eating out often, instead they prefer cooking at home to manage their budget.
In conclusion, while eateries and ready-to-eat food help us save time and offer many options, home-prepared meals are still the best choice for people who care about health and costs.
