A lot of financial resources today are spent on oil deposits’ discovery. As oil is a finite energy resource, some argue that a portion of this money should go on developing new power assets, such as wind and solar.
Receiving energy from wind and solar power is considered to be far more environment friendly than oil. Besides the effects on nature, another drawback of our reliance on oil is that petrol deposit exploration is based on scientifically supported predictions which might not turn out as expected. This can result in the discovered resources not being worth the expenditures, while the risk of wasting the money could be eliminated by spending it on developing renewable power sources.
On the other hand, oil has been used as the main power source for a considerable period of time now, which indicates how developed this field is. Sacrificing the funds for potential improvements of unmastered resources can lead to the lack of energy and therefore increased prices on electricity and petrol. I believe that, apart from taking full responsibility for the way petroleum yield affects our environment, we should also be prepared for substituting oil with renewable energy resources when it runs out, which makes me fully agree that the governments should spend a portion of the funds they allocate for oil discovery to developing new sources of power,
