Tourisms nowadays contribute to the source of income of several countries around the world. By contrast, tourism can become a source of problems if it is not managed efficiently. In the following essay, I will evaluate both pros and cons of tourism in the modern world and give my opinion.
Let’s begin with the positive aspects of tourism. First of all, it is undeniable that tourism helps increase the economy of a lot of countries in the world as it can provide the dwellers with employment. For example, most of the citizens are provided with well-paid jobs such as being a tour guide or a chef thanks to the development of the tourism industry. Hence, their living quality has been considerably improved. Moreover, the growth of tourism can offer people opportunities to promote their local products. Personally, the sales of fresh fruit in my hometown have dramatically increased due to the great number of visitors.
However, tourism also brings some disadvantages. One of them is that it poses a strong threat to the environment. The huge numbers of the tourists who are in eco-tour can cause damage to the ecosystem. For example, the visitors tend to throw away the rubbish after using it which is a great contributor to soil destruction. Besides, the number of criminals aiming at tourists may increase because of tourism. Thus, this can generate a bad impression for the tourist to the countries they visit.
In short, I think the advantages that tourism brings to many countries can outweigh the drawbacks if they can manage it carefully.
