Many places in the world rely on tourism as it contributes as the mainstream of income.
Tourist places are a great way to earn money, but at the same time, it could be an issue if not well managed.
Firstly, tourist places are a great idea to collect money, mostly for those cities or countries which don’t have any other particular source of income such as tax on goods, tolls on bridges etc.. For example, Taj Mahal, situated in Agra, Delhi, was a very popular tourist place where people would come to visit and view its beauty, which is built centuries back using white marbles.
Secondly, a major disadvantage of a tourist place would be its maintenance. If the place is not maintained well, then the tourists count would reduce as the attraction of people reduces towards the tourist place. For instance, Taj Mahal, located in Agra, Delhi, was a very popular tourist place during the past. But currently due to the lack of maintenance the colour of it has faded and also the river which flows near it had been very polluted which led to the lack of tourists towards it as of today.
In short, having a tourist spot would allow the government to collect money from the public, which then can be used to improve the infrastructure of the country and for other public needs. But at the same time, the spot must be well-maintained so that the public or tourist attractions don’t reduce, which could lead to a decrease in revenue.
