Nowadays, tourism is one of the most reliable sources of income, and even some countries are economically dependent. While it offers numerous benefits such as infrastructure development and job creation, it can also cause serious environmental problems if not properly managed. This essay will explore both the advantages and the disadvantages of tourism in today’s globalized society.
Tourism has a major impact on social and economic development of a country.When tourists visit a country, they spend money on hotels, restaurants, transport, and entertainment. This creates a high demand for workers in those areas. Also in order to attract many people government focus on constructing new accommodations, recreation zones, and improving road network. Such development in infrastructure not only benefit tourists, but also local people. For example, Astana, a capital of Kazakhstan in 2017 presented a worldwide exhibition EXPO-2017. Thanks to this large event there were built many beautiful constructions such as Nur Alem, and also many accommodations including a train station which local people still use today.
Nonetheless, while attracting large numbers of tourists, there may arise serious environmental issues. In many countries there are very beautiful and spectacular landscapes, and wide range of animals to demonstrate to tourists. But there is no guarantee that all the people will follow instructions. Some people can pollute essential spots, or even accidentally kill or disturb some creatures. And in some countries, for example, there is a severe regulation with penalty and charge for admission to regulate flow of tourists, and also make them to respect this country’s culture.
Overall, tourism helps to bring nations together and offers valuable knowledge ,also provides improvements in infrastructures. However, there should be some restrictions in order to maintain an environmental order.
