Cause And Solution

Band 5+: A rise in childhood obesity is a real threat to health with an increasing number of children now classified as overweight. What are the causes of the problem and what measures can be taken to solve them?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The burgeoning numbers of obesity of the young generation have been deemed as a real challenge recently. There might be two essential causes of the problem that can be traced, which are the consumption of unhealthy food and the flourishing number of sedentary lifestyles. Besides, this essay will also elaborate two effective solutions.

Unhealthy diet and Sedentary lifestyle are two intricate problems which strongly cause such an overweight phenomenon. Children in the modern era tend to consume sugary food or fatty food in unprecedented quantities. It goes without saying, processed food becomes more popular rather than healthy food which is usually avoided by children. Moreover, the problem is worsened by a new trend in which sedentary life becomes an entrenched behavior of children. This is strongly related to the fast development of cutting edge technology such as smartphones. Young generation is widely perceived as a digital native wherein they mostly get hooked on a new technology. As a result, inactive behavior contributes to the problem of obesity.

Given the problem as a real threat for the future generation, children must develop certain positive interventions such as eating a balanced diet and engaging more in sports as part of the integrated curriculum of school. Government or parents must impose a strict rule on the children to consume nutritious food. Such intervention also must be strengthened by other school policies to incorporate sport in their curriculum. It is the best way to tackle the sedentary life.
