These days, advertising strongly influences on consumers’ decisions and behaviors. While advertising can have negative impact on individuals via creating unneccessary desires and unrealistic social standards. I believe that there are some effective measures that can mitigate these harmful effects.

Advertising affect badly on people as it creates uneeded shopping demands and influence on individual’s cognition. Firms and companies exploit their consumer’s psycho and employ psychological strategies on advertisements which will then create artificial needs in people’s awareness. In addition, unrealiable kind of advertising also make bold consumers’ behaviors as people misunderstand about the products’ function which help companies promote an excessive consumption. For example, Black Friday, which is a flash sales event always has a large consumers enter this event. Moreover, advertising impose impractical social standards on people ‘s self-esteeem in the youth. All of these harm the individuals’ mentality and finance.

Therefore, effective measures need applying to mitigate these effects. First, we need to enhance media education. These education will help people improve critical thinking to analyse and detect advertising to make informed consumers’ decisions. For example, in Canada government apply media literacy courses in high school curriculum. Second, government should impose and enhance more strict laws and legal regulations to ensure the truthful, responsibility of the advertising. For example, European Union ban advertisement about aclohol, tobacco on kids progamme time, advertisments about phemaceuticals need to show up clearly side effects.

In conclusion, advertising has many negative impact on people’s decisions and cognition. However, there are also effective measures to ease these effects and people also need to consider before deciding to but something.
