It is argued by many that all large companies should provide sports and community facilities to the local community. However, I disagree with the statement wholeheartedly as the government should be taking this responsibility instead.
Firstly, large companies, especially private ones are driven by profit and interest. This means that they will prioritize revenue over benefits for the local community. The established prices would be costly, making people with lower socio-economic status unable to utilize the facilities according to their needs. Furthermore, big corporations do not always have the expertise when it comes to public amenities. For example, a technology company may have the skills to manufacture excellent equipment for the facility, but it may not know how to deal with the operational challenges that follow.
Secondly, it is mandatory for the government to take this duty. They are in charge of the collection of taxes, which they must use to fund and invest in facilities that serve the public best. The government operates to serve the wellness of its people, thus it would make the facilities accessible to everyone regardless of status or income. Moreover, the government can manage and maintain community facilities better, helping them to become sustainable community assets.
In conclusion, the government is more suitable to operate public facilities compared to large companies. Instead, those companies could contribute to the community through actions such as charity or donations or through beneficial products.
