Over the past few years, obesity has become a major problem all over the world affecting both adults and children. In my point of view, obesity has become more pronounced since food has become less healthy. In this essay, I will go through the reasons why this happens and provide possible solutions on how to improve the situation.
One of the main causes of the problem is that people buy junk food instead of cooking healthy. For instance, in our country, sales of pre-prepared meals, which contain high levels of fat and salt, have increased dramatically in the past few years. To address this issue, the government could increase the sales tax on food considered to be unhealthy. This would hopefully encourage consuming to buy healthier food and lose weight.
Another issue is that the cause of obesity is because children do not get enough physical exercise in school. The way forward might be for schools must build more sports facilities. This could make children stay healthy and encourage children to do more exercise.
The third solution to the problem is that the advertisement of unhealthy food has surged sharply. The more people see this the more people want to buy junk food. To tackle this issue, the government should increase the level of fitness in society by advertising physical activity instead of promoting unhealthy food.
To sum up, these days it has become evident that obesity rates are a serious problem, affecting both adults and children. However, it is not too late to do something about it and needs to be tackled urgently.
