In this day and age, there is a growing number of people opting for cosmetic surgery to enhance their looks. This phenomenon is attributed to the societal misleading beauty standards and a will to promote career prospects. From my perspective, I would argue that this is a negative development.
Two compelling reasons ascribe to pursuing plastic surgery among individuals. Chief among these is the adherence to the social beauty standards. These beliefs are usually set by celebrities who have a far reaching impact on the general public. Consequently, the majority of people tend to emulate their appearance and are willing to show up like their favorite figures. Another fact is that some people who were born with congenital defects aspire to correct physical deformities to gain more job prospects. These surgeries can include breast augmentation, nose reshaping and liposuction as some professions such as flight attendants or receptionists require a high level of presence and refinement.
Nevertheless, it seems to me that in the long run this tendency can draw varying downsides and it is an absolute negative propensity. Cosmetic surgery could deliver some intricacies after the surgery stage including complications from anesthesia, or from invasive cosmetic treatments. These complications can worsen through times and inevitably leave behind some damages which are more aggravating compared to the past. Furtheremore, chasing after unrealistic beauty standards regulated by the society can lavish money and shape people’s minds in a box worrying about their looks and presence. This concern could form the inconfidence and skepticism about themselves while showing at the public.
In conclusion, the misguided beauty principles and a hope to correct the looks are two main reasons contributing to this pressing issue, and I would deem that this is a negative development.
