Band 6+: Art is as important in our lives as science and technology. To what extent do you agree or disagree

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some individuals think that art is as significant in our lives as science and technology. Although art is necessary for people’s lives, I still believe that science and technology have more contributions.

On the one hand, it is easy to explain why art is essential for our lives. Firstly, art is an emotional outlet. For example, hearers can know about a song’s contents, messages, and emotions of songwriters who put their heart and soul into their works. Therefore, art is a useful tool for humans to communicate, unwind, express people’s emotions, and help social cohesion. Secondly, art also contributes to the development of creativity. For instance, art subjects tend to have free art lessons where students can draw everything in their brains, they only need to imagine that there are no boundaries. As a result, art is a good way to help people who are living in a society that needs innovation day by day.

On the other hand, I still hold the belief that science and technology are more important than art.

Firstly, science and technology can provide practical solutions. For example, various kinds of research about medicines and medicinal devices can be applied to save patients in the COVID-19 age. Consequently, science and technology can enhance people’s living environment and ensure their safety. Secondly, science and technology can contribute to solving problems in the future. For instance, weather forecasting is an application of technology and science to predict the atmosphere for a location and time. Besides, waste processing machines are researched and produced to handle litter and avoid a large amount of waste that can cause pollution. Consequently, technology and science are the main contributors to preserving the environment nowadays and in the future.

In conclusion, some people think that art is as important as science and technology in our lives. I have to admit that art is the main factor that not only helps people express their emotions but also contributes to creativity. However, I still believe that science and technology are more significant than art because they have immediate benefits in practical solutions for people’s lives and future positive influences on the ecosystem.
