In modern society, there is an ongoing debate about whether AI would take over human labour in the future. This essay will examine this issue and explain why I believe that this is a negative development.
To begin with, it might seem reasonable that some people would believe that job replacement by advanced technology is a positive trend. To explain it simply, this is because it can save large sums of money and reduce costs for many major businesses in terms of labour costs. For example, various factories have adopted AI manufacturing machines to replace workers, which can increase profits and even accelerate production processes. Therefore, artificial intelligence can be a great alternative for many corporations.
From this perspective, it is logical why some would believe that this is a positive development for society as a whole.
On the other hand, I would personally argue that this is detrimental to job markets and individuals. This is due to the fact that AI can be the main cause of the increase in unemployment rates among workers. For example, many employees from major IT corporates such as Google and Facebook have been laid off from work because their skills are no longer required when AI can perform the same tasks better. Therefore, this is a significant threat to modern society. In this sense, it is evident that the replacement of AI can be harmful to future employment markets.
In conclusion, it is undeniable that although AI can be beneficial to many large companies regarding reducing cost and gaining greater profits, I firmly believe that it can bring about more negative outcomes for society.
