Some people consider that young generation should learn to speak in universal language fluently, while others believe that native language is enough for comfortable life. I agree with this opinion, I think it is individual choice, and everyone thinks according to their lifestyle. In my opinion, children, who can speak a non-native dialect have more opportunities, either than children, who can speak only in their mother language.
First, knowing a lot of foreign languages helps you communicate with people from different cultures. It broadens your horizons and general knowledge about different countries from original sources. Moreover, speaking fluently in non-native language can help you in different situations, such as problem in overseas country. For example, when i was a kid, my parents and i got lost in Malaysian shopping street, and we couldn’t find our transfer. Thank God there were people who understood English, they helped us get to the main road by talking to the driver on the phone in their native language.
Second, knowing global language will help you in the future. If you know a lot of dialect, for example English, it is global language around the world, you can speak freely with foreign partners. It will open career prospects in the future and the best time to get such a skill is childhood. We all know that children can learn new things much faster than adults, a lot of things are much easier, for instance, to learn non-native dialects. To give an example, my friend lived in the USA for up to 10 years. And now she can freely describe her thoughts in English, because English is now considered her native language. She learned it by going to their kindergarten, she had an English-speaking environment, or helped her to improve her speaking skills.
In conclusion, I think a child should learn several languages, universal is mandatory. Since it will help them not only now, but also in the future, because knowledge of foreign languages has a lot of advantages.
