Recently, there has been an increasing rate at which young adults watch television compared to the past. This essay will discuss the disadvantages of this development, as well as argue that they should be allowed to watch television.
To begin, watching television programs beyond limits could be detrimental in many ways. One of which is the effect it has on their grades at school, including social behaviors. For instance, when children spend too much time by the Tv set, they become occupied and neglect their assignments and studies. Thus, having little or no time to read their books, which could eventually lead to poor grades. In addition, some shows which are aired on the television are not appropriate for children viewing, and without proper parent supervision, a child may pick up bad habits such as violence from these uncensored programs.
However, I believe that children should spend some time watching television set because they can serve educational purposes as well as an effective learning method. For instance, there are a lot of children-friendly stations, which are dedicated to teaching them numbers and alphabets. Thus, parents can tune into these channels, and the kids can learn easily. In addition, television uses a pictorial method of teaching which can improve a child’s learning ability and help them study effectively.
In conclusion, despite the drawbacks associated with children watching television out of proportion, such as poor performance at school and the encouragement of violent practices. In my opinion, effective learning and educating them are some of the beneficial reasons why they should watch television programs.
