In contemporary society, there is a phenomenon that authorities allocate funds for part or total of the tuition children education because of its expense. While this has admittedly certain benefits, I would contend that these are overshadowed by the drawbacks.
Granted, advocating state funds for children’s education can be advantageous to a certain extent. One primary benefit is the decrease in the rate of illiteracy. The free tuition allows all the kids having more opportunities to access education which ensures the nation’s development in the future. For example, thanks to the assistance of authority, mountain children who have had poor circumstances and lived in places lacking technology, now can have exposure to the learning environment as well as have more future career prospects. In addition, the government’ allocation of funds enables parents to achieve cost savings on their children’s education. For instance, to gain money for paying out school fees, parents often bury themselves under work which stresses pressure on them and a lack of care for children. If they receive financial support from the government, they will have more time to recharge their battery and be with their kids.
However, I am convinced that the aforementioned advantages pale in significance when compared to the drawbacks of this trend. The initial concern revolves around negative influence on the national economy. When concentrating too much on children’s education, sectors like healthcare, food production, industry and so on can be distracted. Therefore, it can prevent the thriving of a country as well as residential welfare. Moreover, financial assistance in children’s education can lead to the decline in competition and working hard. For example, parents can put less effort to earn money for their children to study and likewise, their kids will not feel regret and indifference in learning.
In conclusion, while paying some or all of the children’ education costs bring undeniable advantages in terms of decreasing literacy and home financial burden, I am of the opinion that these are eclipsed by drawbacks associated with national development and lacking efforts. Instead, the governments should strike a balance between financial support in education and other fields.
