Band 4+: Children learn more from playing freely after school than doing more organised after school activities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There is a debate that after school, playing freely is better than learning administered lessons in school programs for schoolchildren. While it is true that learning freely in playgrounds or yard/garden is necessary, I do not believe that fully concentrating school subjects without practical lessons are a good idea.

Firstly, it is important that focus on educational aspects of the game. Monitoring environment, walking in the garden or follow birds, animals or plants and also touch them, this helps to expand the world-view and gives practical experience. As a result, the children understand better biology than visuals of things in a book. For example, Korean schools have a day that name of “Experience day”. In this day children or even new teachers check out their new knowledge that is taken in lessons. Therefore, school curriculum need for basic foundation, however we must test our new gleanings in practical world.

Secondly, organizing team games. Playing with peers creates social behavior in child’s character and they learn to solve problems together or alone. When children make a tree-house in the garden or a castle with sand together. As a result , they have a sense of working with team and get on each other well. For example, I prefer outdoor subjects like growing plants in school garden or playing with my dog and sometimes I tested a lot of chemistry practices together with my friend so I have a lot of interests for life, for study and looking after flora and fauna. So, learning via games has advantages like mentioned examples and also playing with friends gives some fun and enjoyment instead of bored lessons thar are organized in school programs.

To sum up, I agree this argument that children learn more through playing games freely after school instead of organized lessons on school curriculum. So this helps that learn freely gives some excitement and some mood.
