Colour is something that has been used by sellers to make their products interesting. Even so, it becomes one of the factors that attract consumers’ way of choosing certain products. Personally, I am against this statement, there are many other factors that most of the consumers consider when it comes to buying something.
Colour is less important in a product compared to its functionality and convenience. Certain items do not need to look colourful for people to purchase that. Most people buy things because of its function not because of the shade of the products. For instance, office workers who mostly need notebooks do not buy colourful ones, they mostly buy a simple one as long as they can write important points or details on that note. Another reason is that, people tend to buy something that makes them feel comfortable rather than something that is pleasing to the eyes. Comfortability is something more important than colour because if people are not comfortable with something they are wearing or buying, it can have a bad influence on their mood.
There are two more aspects that are far more critical than colour, which are price and service. Price is something that people always check when they are buying something, particularly for low income families. They do not need a product that looks attractive, but what they truly need is something that they can afford instead. Therefore, buying something cheaper is their priority. The second is about the service that people get when they visit a place. It is true that nowadays, many places such as restaurants decorate their places with as many colours as possible to look more aesthetic, so people want to visit there. However, people have a tendency to go to a place that their relatives or their friends recommended rather than a place that looks attractive on the outside.
In contrast, others believe that colourful products are more attractive than plain products. It might be true; however, they do not realize that those kinds of products are something that companies use to trick them. The products might not be as good as they think, it is just the way every company arranges to gain more profit by making it more interesting.
In conclusion, It might be true that colour influences the way buyers purchase something; however, other factors are more vital than just a colour, such as functionality, convenience, price and service. (Rate my IELTS writing task 2 based on IELTS descriptors)
