Tanks to the advent in the realms of communicational technology , we now have the chance to obtain huge loads of data in a relatively much easier and quicker way in comparison with the past .In this regard , some people argue that this is a completely positive shift , whereas there are others who consider that this produces more pain than gain. As for my view , I firmly agree with the latter point of view and will present compelling arguments in the following paragraphs.
To begin with , it is undeniable that the information inundation has given us a number of golden opportunities. For example , huge quantity of data enables human beings to compare product designs , educational systems , technological developments and many more. In this case, we will be able to weigh which ones are better and more efficient for our use while , at the same time , discard ones we find irrelevant or unnecessary.
On the other hand , I am on the same side woth those who contend that the availablity almost infinite abundance of information is a pessimistic development . for ,us,humanity. The primary reason behind this notion is that the surging volume of information can adversely effect not only on personal well being of individuals but also on their decision making skills , innovation and productivity. The life of office workers can be a great point in this case. To be more precise , in one study , conducted by English researchers , it took an average of twenty five to thirty minutes from a worker to fully reconcentrate on his work task once recieving an email message.Obviously this is extremely bad news of both the individuals involved and their onganizations.
On top of that , the flood of information leads to other serious issues , one of which is weakened creativity and intellegence .To support this view, one research by several american experts would be an ideal instance. In this study , it has been proven that the vast oceans of data can make a person dependent on them, which , in turn , results in decreasing creativity levels . Apart from that, the research also includes that ringing phones and email alerts may lower the IQ levels of humans by ten points.
In sum, although information is our most valuable commodity , I believe that overabundance of it can affect negatively on human kind due to the reasons demonstrated above.
