Advertisement has been gradually lost their previously dominant influence on customers. This decrease is mostly driven by a large proportion of misled advertising. As a result, this trend is undoubtedly beneficial for the sustainable economic growth and the overall well-being of citizens.
One of the most dominant explanations for this distrust from customers is the proliferation of advertisement which spreads false information to citizens. With the desire of profit maximisation, almost all shops, manufacturers, and companies want to widely disseminate their products or services’ advantages for people; however, the most blameworthy one is that they exaggerate these benefits to an extent that may be regarded as manipulation. They arise the huge and immediate demand into superfluous goods from customers who initially may not want to buy. Nevertheless, the blessing effects, as the advertisement stated, of these crafts, foods, services may not meet the demand of buyers or even frivolously useless, leading to a “angry and precautious society”.
This psychological shift in society, especially shoping enthusiast, yields numerous benefits not only for the side of customers but also for the businesses who always claim the true information for their patrons. In terms of general customers, this shift helps them preventing buying bad goods or counterproductive products. For example, in Vietnam recently, a well-known company, namekly Kera, sell supplementary pills which are claimed to have the same benefits with a dish of vegetables. However, after a clear examination by citizens, customers, and authorities, they find out that these health goods only have only one-sixth nutrients of a healthy dish; therefore, they are judged and closed their business. Secondly, this trend also helps companies that inform the correct and precise information for their buyers. Thanks to this psychological change, citizens today are eager to look for the true advertisement and want to buy more goods from these businesses to help and advocate for their good behaviours.
Profit maximisation through advertisement is the undoubted desire and motivation of almost all companies. However, to an extent that distords the information and benefits, which even have bad effects on health and trust of buyers need to be strictly punished. And the one that is deservable for the increasing buying from typical citizens is businesses who announce correct information for ther customers.
