Nowadays, the differences between countries are decreasing because of the fact that people have access to homogeneous goods all over the world. From my perspective, this may seem like a positive phenomenon, but can lead to negative results.
On the one hand, this has a potential benefit which gives people an opportunity to access to international trades and products. In other words, people can take advantage of this to provide themselves with worldwide products. For instance, people who have immigrated to overseas countries can find their local commodities in the host countries, So they find it easy to get used to wherever they are. In addition, international brands and trades can be placed in any country, by e-commerce platforms. So, this trend can contribute to globalization and homogenization.
On the other hand, this can possess many other drawbacks. Firstly, people may tend to use international brands and products, this trend can lead to numerous threats to local businesses and job opportunities. Thus, in competitive markets small businesses can be replaced by brands. Moreover, there is a significant social impact which can not be overlooked. Although folks may believe that it is beneficial, in terms of culture this trend can lead to loss of cultural diversity and homogenization of cultures. For example, concepts like either local cuisine or even tourism will be eliminated.
In conclusion, in my opinion, while the worldwide ability to all over the world’s products is a potential benefit for people, it also brings hidden drawbacks which can outweigh the benefits.
