Band 7+: Countries with a long average working time are more economically successful, but they are also likely to suffer from negative social consequences. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Salary and workload have always been popular topics among workers. Some believe that the amount of time they work each day is directly related to the money they receive, while others prioritize maintaining a healthy work-life balance. I firmly believe that people should allocate equal time to both work and activities they enjoy. Socializing with others is also essential since it is a natural human behavior.

Workers often spend over 40 hours in the office each week. Many choose to extend their working hours in order to earn more money. On one hand, this is understandable given the rising costs of daily necessities. On the other hand, working overtime can be detrimental to both physical and mental health. Engaging in activities that bring happiness is crucial for maintaining productivity levels.

People also need to dedicate time to their families. After a long day at work, many individuals find they lack the energy to engage properly with their loved ones. Taking on extra working hours can be detrimental, especially for those with children who require their parents’ presence at home. While the prospect of a higher salary may be enticing, the value of quality time spent with family is far greater.

In conclusion, there are many factors that individuals should consider. Being economically successful does not necessarily equate to winning at life. We must strive to balance our social and economic needs and use our time wisely for a better life.
