Alternative forms of medicine are increasingly becoming more popular. However, while some believe these methods to be harmless, they are often inefficient and, in the worst cases, can pose a threat. I completely agree with this point of view.
First and foremost, I would talk about effectiveness. Many alternative treatments have not been thoroughly tested, which means we don’t really know if they work. For example, someone might choose to take herbal supplements instead of seeking traditional medical help for a serious condition, like diabetes. While some herbs may offer health benefits, they often cannot replace the necessary medications and lifestyle changes that doctors recommend. This could lead to the person’s condition worsening, putting their health at serious risk.
Secondly, alternative medicine can sometimes be dangerous. For instance, there have been cases where people relied solely on natural treatments for cancer in contrast with seeking proper medical treatment. This decision can be life-threatening, as they might miss out on effective treatments like chemotherapy or radiation. A real-life example is Emily Tudor who chose to treat her breast cancer with herbal remedies in lieu of consulting a doctor. Unfortunately, she later discovered that her cancer had progressed significantly because she delayed getting professional help.
In conclusion, while alternative medicine is becoming well received, its crucial to remember that these treatments often aren’t scientifically proven and can sometimes be hazardous. I hope, it will be made into law to save more lives from unproven type of medicine.
