A controversial issue that is frequently discussed today is the impact of advertisements on society, both positively and negatively. However, I believe that the advantages of advertisements can outweigh the disadvantages if they are executed systematically.
One of the most prominent benefits of advertisements is that they help inform people about newly released products in the market, aiding consumers in finding the items they want. Additionally, advertisements promote the economy of small and local businesses. Furthermore, they are one of the most effective mediums for raising awareness of important issues, which can lead to social change. Similarly, effective advertising that includes special discounts can help consumers save money. For instance, customers who cannot afford expensive items may benefit from sales and discounts advertised, enabling them to save money.
A common disadvantage of advertisements is that some may provide misleading information, leading to miscommunication between companies and consumers. For example, individuals may be influenced by an advertisement that promotes negative social norms, affecting public perception. Likewise, advertisements can create misconceptions and doubts in consumers’ minds if the products do not match the representations shown in the ads. This can particularly impact children, teenagers, and young adults if the content is inappropriate or misleading.
From the points discussed above, I believe that despite the drawbacks advertisements may pose in society, their benefits can easily overshadow these issues. Advertisements play a crucial role in informing consumers, promoting economic growth, and fostering competition in the market, which can outweigh negative effects such as misinformation and manipulative content. Therefore, I contend that the positive effects of advertisements successfully outweigh their negative impacts.
