Band 5+: Do you agree or disagree that the effects of increased global tourism are more likely to be harmful than beneficial?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is argued by many people that international tourism brings danger rather than a useful one. However, I do not hold the same view.

First, tourism helps boost a nation’s economy. As more tourists visit a country, it will contribute to the increase economic development in which people purchased local products and avail services. Hence, there is a need to construct buildings, expand places to visit, and the demand to increase manpower to provide the commodities that people need. As a result, the percentage of unemployed individuals will be lessen, and poverty will reduce, making people to work and earn money to provide for their families. This in turn will amplify nations monetary gains due to improvement of goods, infrastructure and increase of job offers.

Apart from this, foreign individuals will eventually understand the culture of one’s state through their interactions with one another. For instance, Filipino who spend time in Korea can learn their traditions, culture, delicious food, how they dress and greet someone which leads to understanding the similarities and differences between Koreans and Filipinos. Consequently, understanding of the belief of different country will lead to unity and peaceful relationship.

In addition, it will lead to exploring historical heritage like monuments, parks, museum that you cannot only read in the books, but also experienced to touch and observed which will be added to their knowledge and understanding of these various places.

To conclude, worldwide tourism proves to be boon instead of detrimental to the citizens and nation. It benefits the economic growth of countries, better understanding of culture and gives additional information to travelers.
