Education plays an important role for students because it helps them learn about the world. Some people think it is more important to understand ideas and concepts than to learn facts. I agree with this opinion because concepts help students use knowledge in real life, but facts are also necessary.
On the one hand, understanding concepts help students solve problems. When students know how something works, they can answer different questions easily. For example, in mathematics, if a student understands a formula, they can solve many types of questions instead of only memorizing answer. Concepts improve thinking ability. Students who understand ideas can explain things better and give their own opinions.
On the other hand, learning facts is also important because facts give basic knowledge. Without facts, students cannot understand difficult topics. For example, in biology, students must learn names of body parts before understanding their functions.
In conclusion, I believe understanding ideas and concepts is more important than memorizing facts because it helps students think and solve problems. However, both facts and concepts are necessary for good education.
