Some contend that education should be affordable to all people regardless of their financial circumstances, and all degrees of education from elementary school to higher education shouldn’t be charged. However, I, to a firm degree disagree, since free education would likely lead to increases of taxes and may reduce the funding on other fields such.
One of the main reasons why education should not be accessible is that it may cause a rise in charges. Free based universities require a large public funding to provide a high quality curriculum with a wide range of majors and a salary to all workers who teach and support students services. That’s why the government could impose higher taxes for all residents of the country. To illustrate this, the taxes in Finland are at the 6th place among Europe , because of the free colleges and the high taxes in Finland are taking a heavy toll on low income families’ budgets. As a result, free colleges may be harmful to people with different economic backgrounds which may eventually affect the economy of the country.
Another reason is that free education could have an effect on other fields and may reduce the quality. As education will be sponsored by the limited budget of the government , spending too much on affordable education may reduce funding for other crucial sectors such as healthcare or infrastructure. Otherwise, education quality would be decreased, eventually leading to overcrowded classes and lower community and support services.
To sum up, I contend that free education may lead to a crucial repercussions and can cause:the imposing of taxes, which may adversely affect the economy and lead to a lower quality of education in society.
