Some individuals suppose that employees should be offered at least a 1-month holiday each year to make them relax and prepare to achieve over-performed job goals. The following essay will illustrate the point of this view before concluding that I’m in favor of the former.
On the one hand, it is understandable that staff owning a 4-week holiday can bring them numerous disadvantages. One of the most significant drawbacks is that employees find it difficult to work industriously and lose motivation after a long period of disruption. This is because when they have such a long holiday, they spend all their time relaxing and feeling free, so until returning to work, workers can feel bored and do not have encouragement to do tasks. For example, in Vietnam, teachers have a chance to take a rest for at least one month, when students do not attend school for a summer holiday, so they meet some difficulty in communicating with their students and need a long time to prepare spirit for a new school year. As a result, taking a 4-week holiday makes employees find it difficult to regain the discipline needed to focus on their work, which can hinder overall achievement and feel bored. However, besides the disadvantages, works having at least a one-month holiday also offer us various merits.
On the other hand, one of the key points is why managers should offer their staff at least a 4-week a year that workers can let off steam and get away from their jobs so they can take time to regenerate energy and avoid the under-pressure. This is because if they have a 4-week holiday, they will spend time on their interests and hobbies such as visiting family, traveling, and playing sports, which can motivate themselves to perform better in work. For example, employees can take their time such as Tet holiday, summer holiday to travel some destinations or return to their hometown to visit relatives after a long period focusing on earning money in order to prepare a good feel and motivation to enter the labor force. Consequently, spending four weeks traveling and escaping from work makes them feel comfortable and provides not only encouragement but also energy and interest to do tasks.
In conclusion, managers giving their staff at least one month to relax can bring us some drawbacks. However, it also presents the merits such as helping employees find their efforts and prepare well to return the work to have a better performance in work.
