Environmental damage is no longer a new concept to most of us. There are a number of factors that could lead to the damage of environment but the most prominent ones may bear upon the industrialization and human activities, which can be solved by raising people’s awareness of this situation.
It is undoubted that the industrialization era we are living in benefits us in a number of ways, but at the same time causes plenty of issues related to the environment. Firstly, there has been an increasing number of power plants and other industrial estates rising, emitting pollutants into the air such as CO2, SO2, etc..These toxic gasses are not only produced by factories but also released by on-the-road vehicles. Unlike the past centuries, when people traveled mostly by foot or by riding, the general process was completely gas-free. Then, moving on to recent days, starting off with the birth of steam engines, followed by the invention of combustion machines, the world today is filled with abundance of contaminants. And the fact that combustion engines are gaining interest among people owning to their convenience are deteriorating the problem.
To address the degradation of our surroundings, people should be conscious of their own roles and acknowledge the impacts of every single action of theirs in this fast-changing world. For example, each individual could make their own contribution by commuting by public transportation system instead of choosing private vehicle, which would significantly lessen the amount of greenhouse gasses given off to the environment.
In conclusion, deterioration of environment is concernedly a huge problem of every nations, of which the main cause might be undeniably the rapid development of the society. And us, as a part of a modern civilization, should always be mindful that the small actions of each individual could leave a big influence into our surroundings the same as the ‘butterfly effect’.
