It is strongly believed that free medical service should be provided for all residents by the authorities. In my personal opinion, this issue may have both advantages and disadvantages which will be discussed as follows.
There are two major benefits when the government subsidizes the healthcare services for its people. The first and foremost benefit is that the majority of inhabitants may have access to cutting – edge healthcare services. To be more specific, people do not need to pay an excessive amount of money to get medical treatment thanks to the government’s support. Consequently, they might save money to cover living and other expenses. In addition, the free medical system also encourages people to become more health – conscious and to pay more attention to the significance of regular check – ups. Therefore, it is possible to increase the rate of serious diseases’ prevention and control.
On the other hand, I would agree that there are more significant drawbacks of the government providing free healthcare. The main disadvantage of such an issue is the financial burden on the government as well as citizens. Specifically, when the government spends a huge number of national budgets coming from people’s taxes to invest in healthcare, it means that there are not enough budgets to support the other fields. For example, in several poor countries, it is really difficult to develop a free healthcare system because of lack of resources. An additional disadvantage is that more and more private healthcare services face a lot of difficulties when people flock to the free healthcare service. Because of being utilized by the state medical service, people might pay less attention to private medical institutions, which leads to inefficient operations and perhaps bankruptcy.
In conclusion, I am convinced that the free medical system plays a vital role in modern society. Although bringing several benefits for citizens, it causes many serious drawbacks.
