In the modern technological era, people can choose to have conversation either face-to-face meetings or virtual meetings. In many situations, face-to-face interactions are more effective in communication. But, after covid in 2019, virtual meetings have proven to be an efficient and often more practical alternative option depending on the situation. In this essay I will show you how virtual meetings can prove that communication can deliver effectively.
First, virtual meetings can traverse space and time. Using platforms like Zoom or Google Meet, people from various parts of the world can make conversations without requiring physical and time travel. It can save time and cost. This is particularly beneficial for multinational organizations that need to coordinate across regions or time zones quickly and economically.
Second, in my opinion virtual meetings can offer several advantages for introverts because they feel more comfortable in familiar and need quiet environments. Virtual meetings from home or private space can reduce the anxiety that might come from social interaction in crowded situation. In addition, meetings by telephone or via internet can be a digital footprint. Sometimes we don’t remember what people say but we can review recording, chatting, screen sharing, or the transcription in the future days.
However, it might be argued that face-to-face meetings may be more effective for building interpersonal relationships, and decision-making. Moreover, it can develop a person’s trust and specific task distribution will proceed clearly. But I still feel that it doesn’t mean always effective.
In summary, I believe that the flexibility, efficiency, and accessibility offered by technology, virtual meetings have become an equally, and become effective solution in many situations.
