Devoting time to hobbies has decreased as many people are just trying to survive nowadays. Almost all over the world, economic conditions are getting worse. Most of the population spends the whole time working to earn money. At the end of the workday, workers in the capitalist system do not find free time for their hobbies, unfortunately. I totally agree with the determination that few people devote time to hobbies.
With digitalization, our habits are changing, so the situation has affected the lifestyle of the new generation. In the past, hobbies made us more social and healthy individuals, but after digitalization, hobby styles have changed. Many adults spend time on social media as a hobby. The change has many bad effects on society in general. We are more isolated now than in the past.
According to specialists working in psychology and neuroscience, interaction with other people and spending time on hobbies, which can improve your social skills, have many gigantic effects on our health. There are many searches that show that hobbies can block or delay some neurodegenerative illnesses like Alzheimer’s or dementia. The other biggest effect of interaction on society is improving empathy skills. Empathy is a keystone for being human.
All reflectors are showing that devoting time to hobbies is getting lower. In my opinion, it is a bad thing for us and the new generation. If we don’t change our lifestyle and avoid social media, we will suffer from loneliness in the near future. The more hobbies, the happier.
