Band 9: governments should ban single-use plastic to protect the enviroment. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, plastic has become an essential part of daily life due to its convenience and low cost. However, the widespread use of single-use plastic products has raised serious environmental concerns. Many people believe that governments should ban such items, and I strongly agree with this view, as single-use plastics significantly damage the environment and pose long-term risks to human health.

One major reason to support a ban is the severe pollution caused by disposable plastic products. Unlike organic materials, plastic does not decompose easily and can remain in soil and water for hundreds of years. Items such as plastic bags, cups, and plates are often used only once before being discarded, leading to massive waste accumulation. As a result, oceans, rivers, and urban areas are increasingly polluted, harming wildlife and disrupting ecosystems. By prohibiting single-use plastics, governments can drastically reduce environmental degradation and encourage citizens to adopt more sustainable habits.

In addition to environmental damage, excessive plastic use also threatens public health. Many plastic containers release harmful chemicals when exposed to heat, particularly when used for food and beverages. Long-term exposure to these substances has been linked to serious health issues, including hormonal imbalance and chronic diseases. Moreover, microplastics have now been detected in drinking water and even in the human bloodstream, highlighting the urgency of this problem. Therefore, replacing plastic with safer alternatives such as paper, metal, or biodegradable materials would contribute to a healthier society.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that banning single-use plastics is a necessary step toward protecting both the planet and human well-being. Although such a policy may initially require adjustment, the long-term benefits far outweigh the challenges. Governments should take decisive action while simultaneously promoting sustainable alternatives to create a cleaner and safer future.

It is generally believed that ordinary citizens are able to see ancient objects and works of art by using online websites and laptops; therefore, public museums and art forms will not be needed. From my perspective, I totally disagree with this suggestion, as preserving historical objects in museums reflects cultural significance, identity and educational purposes, […]

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Nowadays many people believe that manufacturers and sellers should reduce the amount of packaging for their products, however others assume that customers in their turn should avoid purchasing products with excessive packaging.
